Happy International Women’s Day!
Happy International Women’s Day! We are so excited to be in the midst of a phenomenal 8th annual Festival celebrating the art and creativity of women and non-binary people in and around Thanet.
With a Digital Festival, Main Festival and Fringe Festival we’re totally 75+ events and looking to welcome 17,000 people across March.
Some highlights from the past few weeks:
Feeling so proud of the team for supporting 300 artists in making their creative vision come true
Watching families and young people enjoy print making and ceramic tile making at free workshops - more to come this week
Bearing witness to the incredible experiences of neurodivergent artists and the Young Producers through our Digital Festival events
Seeing the inspiring artworks made by local school children go up at the Turner Contemporary for exhibition, as well as students from Broadstairs College having their own exhibition
Featuring on University of Kent TV, Academy FM Radio and BBC Radio Kent. It was pretty terrifying but reached around 400,000 people so well worth the nerves!
Some things I’m super excited about this week:
Our sponsored swim this morning (please sponsor me so it’s all worth it!) and the opening celebrations
An incredible gig with soul, 80s synth and choirs
Soaking up experimental sound with world-class musicians at the Turner Contemporary
Cosying up with an intimate evening of folk music at Rosslyn Court
Hearing from neurodivergent artists at the “The indescribable joy of finally knowing who I am”
Seeing families enjoy all the fun at the Ellington Park Family Festival on Saturday
Reveling in theatre and music at the Tom Thumb Theatre for our Closing Ceremony
Plus a whole host of phenomenal Fringe exhibitions, events and workshops.
If you haven’t already, enter our free raffle to win £100 cash and other great prizes or donate to our charity. If everyone gave £1 we’d make £17,000 to support women and non-binary people in Thanet.
Thank you for your ongoing support and look forward to seeing you this week!
Happy IWD!
