Community Programmers

This year POW! has begun its Community Programmer initiative. We want our festival to reflect the interests and concerns of the women in our wider community, reaching outside of the arts echo chamber. We sent 1000 letters to Thanet residents, randomly selected by Sortition, inviting women to form a group of 10 Community Programmers. The women have the opportunity to discuss issues of importance to them, hearing from relevant local speakers. They will decide the focus for the 2021 POW! festival inspired by these discussions. This group will play an important role in building wider relevance to our programme making it representative of Thanet’s diverse community.
