Hello everyone! My name is Rosanagh and in September I started my role as CEO of Power of Women. I’ve been so warmly welcomed by the incredible team and am starting to work out some areas of focus for the next few months which I wanted to share with you, our wonderful supporters.

Firstly ensuring all our audiences are treated with respect, dignity and consideration at all times is a priority. We’ve introduced an equity framework to help us pause and reflect on how equitable our work is, at key stages throughout the project; we are reaching out to local disabled and neurodivergent experts in Thanet to help us with staff training; and we are considering how we can best support our creatives who contribute to the Main and Fringe Festivals in March - be that through risk assessment training, marketing support or 1:1s with our Artistic Director as we want to help ease any stress this winter.

We have started our community engagement projects which include supporting early-career professionals from Broadstairs College. This requires listening, collaboration and dedicated support from our Engagement team, and we are so excited to see what these young people produce at the Festival. These projects wouldn’t be possible without the generous support of donors and our next Art Auction is a great way for you to purchase some incredible local art and help us do more community work.

Finally, we are working on systems and processes (anyone else geek out over these?!) to help ease the burden on our staff. All of our staff are part-time so we’re seeking efficient and simple ways to help us better communicate with each other. This also includes recruiting a new intake of Trustees - Click here if you’re interested in applying.

In recent months we’ve witnessed some incredible feminist fights - from the Lioness's glorious summer win at Wembley to the incredible bravery of the Iranian women currently protesting. Power of Women uses the arts to communicate messages of feminism and equality and we can’t wait to show solidarity through our upcoming artistic and community programmes.

Here’s to an inspiring and creative 2023!
