POW! Newsletter August 2019

We’ll keep this one short and sweet as we know August is not about reading long emails! It’s been a celebratory month for POW! as we sat down as a team for the first time to put shape to our 2020 Festival Programme, examining each Expression of Interest carefully.

If you’ve submitted an EOI to us, you can expect to hear from us from September onwards. Heartfelt thanks from us all for sharing such an inspiring crop of ideas.

Margate Pride

The POW! team had a blast taking part in Margate Pride’s huge procession event last Saturday, marching alongside our partners, Oasis Domestic Abuse Service. It was also great catching up with our Founder, Christina Clark-McQuaid, who helped carry Tracie Peisley’s wonderful “I can’t keep quiet” banner. Despite the windy weather, 1000’s showed up on the streets of Cliftonville and central Margate to support diversity and equality and celebrate LGBT+ people. Special congratulations to our Performance Curator, Amy Redmond, who is on the organising committee for Margate Pride.

We are looking for an experienced and connected PR / Media specialist for POW! 2020.

You will be able to sniff out and develop news stories about both the festival programme and POW!’s community projects, securing local and national media coverage and making sure that our voice is heard. We have a lot to shout about and we need you to do the shouting!
