POW! Thanet is now Power of Women
Over the last year, the team behind POW! Thanet have been thinking about how we can continue to take our work from strength to strength.
In 2020, our annual festival reached almost 5,000 people - and in 2021 we took the festival online, adamant the pandemic wasn't going to stop us, and we reached almost 5,500 people, including people living in Thanet, across the UK, and in Europe and North America. We're also increasingly doing more work throughout the year, including working with local schools on creative projects, as well as our annual festival in March to celebrate International Women's Day.
POW! has always stood for Power of Women, but we're aware that sometimes our name, 'POW! Thanet' can be confusing - so we are now officially Power of Women.
Our work will always be rooted in our local area in our beloved Thanet, working with many local people and creating the festival for the people of Thanet first.
Our aim as an organisation is to celebrate creativity and champion equality across Thanet. Our work is inclusive of all women including trans women and non binary people.
Our channels may look slightly different now, but the inspiring work we do with local individuals, community groups and schools remains the same.
We shall be releasing the full line up for Power of Women Festival 2022 in the next few days on our What’s On page.
Stay tuned and we can't wait to come together with you at the festival from Friday 4th to Tuesday 8th March!
With love,
From the whole Power of Women team
